PROJECT STATEMENT
The tower is an exploration of the relationship between decay and renascence in figurative things. All organisms and inorganic substance will decay by time, left with a bleak and pessimistic scene. The most surprising thing about life or a civilization is that it can rejuvenate from the dust.
This tower has the relief extracting from strongboxes of all members, arraying all in a sequence from decaying at the bottom to renascence at the top. We are individually casting over a hundred bricks out of plaster, then have CNC for the four parts of tower wrapped by the bricks, with a wooden column structure inside the tower. By applying the digital cuts and paper sanding, we make the tower being scraped, cut, and let the bricks falling apart at the bottom, letting viewers engaging in discovering and exploring more details before decay; in order to convey the concept of decaying, the tower is left intact and new on the upper part, as if grew after the ruin.
