The curious cabinet is built upon the name itself, provoking an atmosphere of curiosity and playfulness: a game of hide and seek! Observers and visitors of the museum are encouraged to engage with the cabinet, circumnavigating the site and embarking on a journey to find all four museum artifacts. While the artifacts are not necessarily difficult to find, they are cleverly revealed and concealed within a steel frame structure. This structure allows for the insertion of inner panels that feature louvers. These louvers are strategically angled and placed so as to obstruct the observer’s view of an artifact at one angle yet reveal the object at another. At the “home location,” no two artifacts are able to be “revealed” at any one time, however, pieces and small edges may peek out from behind the structure eluding to another artifact to be found and prompting the journey of discovery to continue. However, when rotated, the objects are able to be viewed in different positions, allowing for the viewer to control the frame and creating the option of revealing all the objects at once. The hope is that viewers find the cabinet interactive and engaging; a playful twist on the typical museum display.
