PROJECT STATEMENT
This chamber examines monumentality’s responsibility to meet the basic needs of everyday individuals across the world. The grid is a concept essential to the development of humanity. It is an undemanding concept in that it requires few tools to understand. Thus, the grid is inherently monumental in its innate application to essential resources and technology. Devoid of architectural diversity, the grid also represents equality and accessibility in its most basic form.
A superimposed grid is a monumental despite its intangible nature. By equalizing elements of architecture and design, the final sculpture aims to reimagine the viscosity, temporality, non-locality, and inter-objectivity of monumentality. This proposes architecture through daily and familial motifs. The chamber also examines the multiplicity of forms by creating distinct figural volumes with plaster and wood. It activates both form and structure by reframing the common language of geometry. This, the chamber is a nod to the unseen complexities embedded in the ordinary.
