The inherent characteristic of colonialism disrespects the established order, which is what we aim to achieve, by disrespecting the boundaries of our site. The British colony was referred to as an umbrella, as it had an indomitable global sphere of influence. We are breaking the proposed boundary of our site to reflect colonialism in its most natural form, creating an "umbrella" structure overhead this courtyard. The casted shadow creates a subtle reference to colonialism's influence. Conversely, the artifacts in our group will be exposed to the sun, with no direct shade from this veil structure giving back integrity to these artifacts which colonial expansion stole from them.
